Kyiv. February 20. INTERFAX-UKRAINE – A new civic organization ‘I’m strong enough!’ is being created in Ukraine to prevent unfair treatment of divorced women and to provide them with psychological and legal support.

“The civic organization ‘I’m strong enough!’ has been created by Ukrainian women for Ukrainian women,” Margarita Chervonenko, the leader of the newly-created organization and ex-wife of the Chairman of the National Agency of Ukraine for Preparation to Euro-2012 Yevhen Chervonenko, said during a news conference in the Interfax-Ukraine agency on Wednesday.

The organization plans to provide psychological support for women who apply for help after divorce, involving psychologists, and to render legal assistancewith the aim of defending women from encroachments on jointly acquired property.

“We will be holding seminars and organizing psychological support for women, though, I understand I will not be able to solve all the issues,” M. Chervonenko notes.

The leader of the organization is sure that if public opinion on divorce can be changed, their number could be reduced within the nearest years.

The main source of information provided by the organization is its website, where women will have the opportunity to share their stories, read the page of M. Chervonenko, ask questions and learn about the seminars the organization plans to hold.

‘I’m strong enough!’ intends to cooperate with such foreign organizations as the international organization European Women's Lobby, Dutch and German organizations Mama Cash and Filia.

“I want every woman to understand that she is strong,” M. Chervonenko emphasizes.

In theopinion of M. Chervonenko, the Family Codeadopted in 2004 is one of the best in Europe, and if it were observed, many problems could be avoided.

“As long as women need help, we will be providing it,” the leader of the ‘I’m strong enough!’ organization summed up.

The creation of the women’s organization was initiated by M. Chervonenko herself in January 2008. In her words, she was prompted to do this with her own divorce and the judicial injustice, due to which she was left practically without any means of subsistence.

M. Chervonenko noted that the documents for registration of the organization were submitted on January 20.
